At this present moment there are 7 pre pubescent girls trying to sort out who is going to sleep where in Sarah's room tonight! Augh! I do not truly think I am going to get any sleep this evening. I leave it to the ragazze to sort it out.
In reality, they know best, don't they? The minute I add my two cents, whatever plan they may or may not have had will fall apart. One can only count on the law of fatigue in these trying moments during little girl's sleepovers. After pizza, cookies, cupcakes, and ghost stories, these little ladies should be well on their way to slumber land. One can only hope, that is.
Me, I am in dream land already. It is not the need for sleep or the lovely wine served by Ian and Silvia this evening. I did mention I arranged for a sitter, didn't I? Sam and I escaped this madness for the tranquility of the Lewis'. It does seem to me that only yesterday our little Sarah was our precious newborn baby. New born smell, fluffly black hair and all that came with the magical moment.
It's astounding, time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely, not for very much longer
I've got to keep control
To quote the Frankenfuter in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
Seems apt, doesn't it?
Today, and each and every day that follows, Sarah is well on her way to maturity and her destiny. She is intelligent, wise and most days, she just drives us crazy. All I can say is that the last 12 years have flown by, cliche, I know. Yet, it was only yesterday I was a new mom with a beautiful babe in my arms.
Ahh....As my mom always said, "Youth is wasted on the young". Really, it was George Bernard Shaw. But, I think she got it from the movie "Its a Wonderful Life" "Aw, youth is wasted on the wrong people!", by the grumpy old man on the porch. (1946). Knowing my mom, who never read a book, yet, saw every movie. This is where she got it from.
Happy Birthday my little one. Don't grow up too fast.
Love,
Mom

Yikes and double yikes...That means Elizabeth will be there in 6 months....I won't however be having a monstrous sleepover...yeck no. Happy Birthday Sarah...we love ya girl.
